PGA Tour Champions Players Vote Little Rock Tournament as Favorite Event in 2024

PGA Tour Champions players voted the inaugural Simmons Bank Championship at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock as their favorite event in 2024.

The tournament received the Players Award, which represents “recognition for a tournament that goes above and beyond in the experience they provide to PGA TOUR Champions players,” the PGA said in a news release.

The award was announced in December at the PGA’s annual tournaments meeting in Orlando. It’s only the second time that players have picked a first-year event as their favorite, the PGA said in a news release.

Players said the tournament, held Oct. 25-27, featured a “top tier” buildout around the property, beginning with the entrance and extending to hospitality and fan enhancements around the course. Pleasant Valley provided “first-class” locker rooms, excellent food and an attentive staff. The clubhouse underwent an $18 million renovation in preparation for the tournament.

The PGA said it received “tremendous” feedback on the quality of the golf course, according to the release.

Players also praised the tournament’s amenities, which included Lexus courtesy vehicles, a dinner at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion and a special outing for players’ wives, according to the release. Additionally, both players and caddies received a winner’s trophy, and complimentary hotels were provided for all caddies.

The PGA noted the support of tournament board members, including Simmons Bank CEO and Chair George Makris Jr.

“The engagement and commitment from George and the entire Simmons executive team was evident to PGA Tour Champions membership,” the release said.
