Matthew Cooper, executive chef of The Preacher’s Son restaurant in downtown Bentonville, will leave the restaurant in pursuit of a new project. His last day will be Dec. 12.
Located in a historic church on A Street, the mission of The Preacher’s Son is for its food program to be rooted in sustainability and regionality and support northwest Arkansas farmers, purveyors and the community, according to a news release. The restaurant sources sustainably-sourced ingredients from local farmers and ranchers, and that will continue after Cooper leaves.
“I am so grateful to have been a part of growing this amazing team and company at The Preacher’s Son and Ropeswing Hospitality. My family at The Preacher’s Son is the best staff I have ever worked with and I know they, along with the new chef, will continue the vision and culture we’ve created together,” Cooper, who is the son of a preacher, said in the release. “I am so appreciative to this community for supporting our efforts. I am very excited about my next projects as I continue to help and pour my heart into the NWA community through food.”
Cooper will aid in the transition to a new chef; his replacement will be announced “shortly,” the release reads.
In addition, a special event featuring some of Cooper’s signature dishes will be held on his last day. More details will be announced in the coming weeks.
