John Tyson’s Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville will have a collegiate golf tournament that is expected to feature all the men’s and women’s teams from the SEC in October.
The Blessing Collegiate Invitational, presented by Tyson Foods Inc. of Springdale, will be held Oct. 5-7. The tournament will be broadcast live on the Golf Channel each day.
John Tyson is the chairman of the board of Tyson Foods. The club hosted the 2019 NCAA Championships.
“We are committed to the support of college athletics, one of the many ways we contribute to our communities and celebrate northwest Arkansas as a great place to live and work,” John Tyson said. “The inauguration of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational allows us to showcase the vibrant and growing NW Arkansas community while allowing student golf athletes to compete at a world class venue.”
The tournament will be a three-day, 54-hole event with men’s and women’s teams competing. The tournament will be closed to spectators because of the COVID-19 pandemic and safety protocols will be held at the course to protect competitors.
“With the cancellation of our 2020 spring season, our student-athletes are thrilled to have the opportunity to compete once again,” said Shauna Taylor, coach of the University of Arkansas’ women’s team.
