UA Exceeds Fundraising Goal, Has Second-Best Year

1 min read

The University of Arkansas exceeded its goal for fiscal year 2018 by raising $292.7 million through its “Campaign Arkansas.” The university’s original goal was $245 million.

It was the second-best year in UA’s fundraising history and the best for the eight-year campaign, which will end on June 30, 2020, the university said in a news release.

The campaign’s original goal was to raise $1 billion, but that was increased to $1.25 billion this year. A total of $947.4 million has been raised so far.

This year’s amount includes gifts of cash, gifts-in-kind, planned gifts and new pledges received from July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2018.

About $130.6 million of the fundraising total was allocated for endowed funds.

Support for student scholarships and academic programs accounted for 49 percent of the money raised. Advance Arkansas, a scholarship initiative, was launched during the campaign and remains a fundraising priority, the university said.

Another 14 percent of the money raised in fiscal year 2018 was allocated to faculty and staff, while 32 percent went to capital improvements and 5 percent went to other key initiatives.

Gifts from individuals made up 12 percent of the dollars raised this year. Another 14 percent came from corporations, 70 percent came from foundations, and 4 percent came from other organizations, including trusts and estates.

All private gifts to the university are designated and allocated for specific purposes set forth by each donor and used solely for those purposes, the UA said.
