The University of Arkansas-Pulaski Technical College Foundation announced Tuesday that the Windgate Foundation has awarded the two-year college a $1 million grant to establish the Windgate Foundation General Scholarship Endowment.
It is the largest endowed scholarship fund in the school’s history.
“This generous gift will strengthen the college’s mission to provide access to a high-quality education that promotes student learning and enables individuals to develop to their full potential,” Chancellor Margaret Ellibee said in a news release. “We greatly appreciate the Windgate Foundation’s continued confidence in the important work we do at UA-Pulaski Tech.”
Scholarships awarded from this endowment will be available to any current or entering full-time or part-time student and will be awarded for any degree plans or technical certificates.
Shannon Boshears, vice chancellor of advancement, said in the release that she expects the endowment will generate about $40,000 per year in scholarships.
With this donation, Windgate’s support for UA-Pulaski Tech totals nearly $3 million, including a $1 million donation that helped furnish and equip the college’s Center for Humanities & the Arts (CHARTS). Windgate also helped to create the college’s first $1 million operational endowment to support CHARTS.
