United Way of Northwest Arkansas Awards $1.9M in Grants

United Way of Northwest Arkansas in Lowell (Benton County) has awarded more than $1.9 million in grants for asset-limited, income-constrained and employed (ALICE) families.

The grants will fund early learning, quality out-of-school time and self-sufficiency development programs in Washington, Benton and Madison counties.

The 30 organizations that received the grants, which ranged from $10,000-$157,000 apiece, are:

  • Lincoln Consolidated School District

“In northwest Arkansas, we value hard work. But, sometimes, hard work doesn’t always lead to opportunities to thrive,” said Helena Gadison, chair of the United Way board of directors, in a news release. “For over 90 years, United Way has been helping children and families meet their needs. An investment in ALICE families means an investment in the future well-being and prosperity of our community.” 

Three grant panels of volunteers, including human services professionals, academics specializing in public affairs and social work and senior business leaders, made the final grant receipient selections.
