Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar, a Cajun-themed restaurant/sports bar co-owned by NFL All-Pro Quarterback Drew Brees, will hold a groundbreaking at 11 a.m. Thursday for its new restaurant in Conway.
The previously announced 7,500-SF restaurant is expected to open at 955 S. Amity Road in early 2020 and employ up to 200.
Attendees at the groundbreaking will be served samples of Walk-On’s crawfish etouffee, duck and andouille gumbo, and Krispy Kreme donut bread pudding.
The event will begin with remarks from Walk-On’s Founder Brandon Landry. A brief ceremony will follow, giving community members the opportunity to hear from the franchise owners, Jodie and Chris McJunkins.
The McJunkins are Shreveport natives, but Jodie was a Chi Omega at the University of Arkansas. Her dad, George Kalmbach, graduated from there in 1966. He was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity.
Also, Jodie and Chris’s son, Alex, is an SAE and a sophomore at the UA’s Sam Walton College of Business at UA.
The couple has been in the restaurant business for 30 years and own Walk-On’s in Shreveport, Bossier City and West Monroe, Louisiana and Cantina Laredo and Windrush Grill in Shreveport.
