Nine Arkansas nonprofits received funding on Wednesday at the Walmart Supercenter on Bowman Road in Little Rock.

The grants were given through the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program and the money will be used to assist with backpack programs, veterans programs, healthy eating and workforce training.

The recipients include Arkansas Dream Center, Blessings in a Backpack, United Methodist Church, Philander Smith College, ArVets, Baptist Health, Arkansas Coalition for Obesity Prevention and Shepherd’s Hope Neighborhood Health Center.

“The Walmart Foundation is very pleased to be supporting so many wonderful organizations in Central Arkansas and we are committed to helping those in need in the communities where we serve,” said Michael Lindsey, director of public affairs and Walmart State Giving Foundation board member.

In addition, the foundation presented $100,000 to the Arkansas Rice Depot on Thursday.

This year in Arkansas, the Walmart Foundation has awarded more than $1.5 million in grants to nonprofits across the state.
