Walmart Hiring 150,000 in US Ahead of Holiday Sales Rush

1 min read

Walmart Inc. of Bentonville is hiring about 150,000 new U.S. store employees, most of them in full-time, permanent positions, ahead of the holiday sales rush, the company announced Wednesday.

“This will ensure we’re ready to help customers shop however they want, whether they’re in a store, using curbside pickup or shopping online,” the release says.

The retail giant said employees will still be able to work extra hours during the holiday season if they choose.

It’s part of a broader hiring push by the company as it ramps up competition with Amazon and other big retailers. Walmart announced earlier this month that it’s hiring 20,000 supply chain workers to support expected growth in the coming years.

Walmart in August raised its sales outlook for the year after beating profit and revenue expectations.
