Well this could get expensive.

Windstream Holdings Inc. of Little Rock has asked a judge in U.S. Bankruptcy Court’s Southern District of New York to approve hiring the law firm Kirkland & Ellis LLP of New York and Kirkland & Ellis International LLP to handle the telecom’s Chapter 11 reorganization.

Kirkland has “extensive experience and knowledge” of issues relating to bankruptcy cases, according to the law firm’s application to be hired, which is included in Windstream’s bankruptcy case. And if you haven’t heard, in December, Kirkland & Ellis was named the Best Law Firm of the Year at the first American Lawyer Industry Awards, which was held in New York.

In its motion to be hired, the firm said its hourly fees in the bankruptcy case will be between $1,025 and $1,795 for its partners. Its “of counsel” attorneys will charge between $595 and $1,705, associates will bill between $595 and $1,125, and paraprofessionals command $235 to $460.

Windstream has already paid $20 million in retainers to the firm.

A hearing on the application to hire the firm is set for April 16 in front of U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Robert D. Drain in New York.
