The majority of women-owned businesses in the United States, 52.3%, employ between one and four workers, according to an Oct. 26 report by the
U.S. Census Bureau.
Only 7.3% employ 20 or more workers.
The figures were based on the bureau’s 2022 Annual Business Survey, which covers 2021.
Women-owned businesses had an estimated $2.1 trillion in receipts, 10.5 million employees and $499.4 billion in annual payroll, the bureau reported.
