The Women’s Foundation of Arkansas announced that it has reached $150,000 in pledges to Black women entrepreneurs through its Women’s Economic Mobility Hub.
In the six-month program, which launched in 2020, Black women entrepreneurs from across the state gain access to tailored support services, training, and resources including $5,000 in unrestricted grant funds.
The foundation reached the milestone with its third group of grant recipients. The women and their businesses are:
- Kanesha Adams, Bearapy in Pine Bluff, Ark.
- Melanie Battles, Scholars for the Soul: An Educational Solutions Firm in Bryant, Ark.
- Akissi Brooks, Ambitious Girls Inc. in Sherwood, Ark.
- Janette Cross, JValenciaACTS in North Little Rock, Ark.
- Whitney Dobbins, Girly Girls Mobile Spa and More in North Little Rock, Ark.
- LaTasha Moore, Tasha Teaches Spanish in Little Rock, Ark.
- Quinyatta Mumford, Mumford and Associates in Little Rock, Ark.
- Brittany Roy, Sweet Stuffed in Little Rock, Ark.
- Ashia Shelton, Ari’s Glow Candle Co. in Brinkley, Ark.
- Whitney Spencer, CROWN Salon Studio in Little Rock, Ark.
“With the launch of our third cohort,” program leader Kara Wilkins said in a news release, “the WFA will continue our commitment to provide resources and technical assistance to women business owners in an effort to promote economic mobility and shrink the wealth gap.”
