Michael Paladino doesn’t know exactly what he will do next after the demise of RevUnit, the Bentonville technology company he co-founded with Joe Saumweber in 2012.
RevUnit quietly closed shop at the end of 2023. Paladino said it was a mutual decision between RevUnit and Mountaingate Capital of Denver, an investment firm that became RevUnit’s financial backer in 2020.
“We kept it low key for the most part,” said Paladino, 45. “I haven’t been real public with it. I am definitely taking some time to figure out what’s next. I will have some level of involvement in the entrepreneurial community for a long time to come.
“This entrepreneurial area is something I love and always have.”
RevUnit built applications to help companies maximize worker engagement and productivity. It was a 2020 finalist for Arkansas Business of the Year and made the Inc. 5000 top-growing private company list and the list of best entrepreneur companies by Entrepreneur magazine.
“I don’t regret it at all,” Paladino said. “It was obviously not the ending we wanted. I couldn’t be more grateful for the whole journey.”
Paladino said the past 18 months were difficult for RevUnit with a changing economic environment for technology services. Paladino declined to say how many employees lost their jobs but said affected workers received severance packages and help finding new jobs.
