David Koon, the long-term (and long-form) writer for the Arkansas Times, is leaving one family for another.
He has given notice to the weekly paper to write for Team SI, the Little Rock digital marketing agency affiliated with Mangan Holcomb Partners.
Koon’s brother, Derrick, has worked as a Team SI web developer for two years. “He says it’s a great atmosphere there, which is part of the reason I applied,” Koon told Arkansas Business.
Koon said his last official day at the Times, where he has worked since August 2002, will be March 20. “A lot of the people who work here and have worked here are really like my family, and I’ll be forever grateful to Max Brantley and Alan Leveritt for giving me the opportunity to be part of that family.” Brantley, a senior editor, called Koon’s departure a “terrible loss.” Leveritt is the newspaper’s publisher.
On the new team, Koon’s title will be senior content producer. “We’re excited to have him,” said PR pro Kristen Vandaveer Nicholson of Mangan Holcomb.
