Number of Airline Passengers Falls 60%

The COVID-19 pandemic hit the airline industry hard. U.S. airlines carried 557 million fewer passengers in 2020 than in 2019, a 60% decline.

Passenger traffic last year was the lowest on U.S. airlines since the mid-1980s, the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported.
