TCW announced Tuesday a $12 million project to bring fiber internet service to the city of El Dorado. Along with the investment, Conway-based TCW will also open an office in the city to house its south Arkansas regional operations.
The project aims to provide a 100% fiber connection to every home and business in the city, offering internet and TCW’s customer support to El Dorado’s 18,000 residents.
TCW’s plans include building a primarily underground fiber network that can provide reliability in volatile weather conditions. Up to 8 Gig service will be available for all customers.
“We have been impressed with the vision laid out by city and community leaders, and we look forward to contributing to the city’s advancement,” TCW CEO Brad Brannon said in a press release. “That begins with ensuring all residents have access to reliable, fast internet service.”
El Dorado is part of a regional expansion by TCW into south Arkansas, that includes the previously announced fiber internet services serving the city of Magnolia. TCW expects to hire 15 to 20 local employees in the region, enabling the company to handle sales, installation, repair and customer support in-house.
Construction is expected to begin during the second quarter of 2025, with the first customers being connected later this year.
“I want our city to have choices for internet service. Right now, what I hear from residents is they want something better than the only choice they currently have,” El Dorado Mayor Paul Choate said in the release. “What I like about TCW is not only are they providing a service, but they want to be actively engaged in El Dorado and care about making our city an attractive place to live and work.”
