The $2.3 billion sale of Acxiom Marketing Solutions to The Interpublic Group of Companies Inc. of New York has officially closed.
The deal, first announced in July, leaves Arkansas with one fewer public company. It also creates Acxiom LLC, which will operate as an independent company as part of IPG.
AMS was one of two divisions that made up Acxiom Corp. of Conway. The other division has changed its name to LiveRamp Holdings Inc. and is now headquartered in San Francisco. LiveRamp, which still has a big presence in Conway, began trading Tuesday under the symbol “RAMP” on the New York Stock Exchange.
Acxiom LLC will be headquartered in Conway and be led by co-presidents Dennis Self and Rick Erwin. The pair wrote a blog post on the closing of the transaction here. The company also has offices in Austin; Downers Grove, Illinois; China; Germany; Poland; and the United Kingdom.
In a news release, the company said it will sell marketing data and services to businesses while engaging in the ethical data use.
“This is a great day for clients and associates across Acxiom and IPG,” Self said. “Acxiom’s world-class data and service offerings that enable highly personalized, omnichannel customer experiences, combined with IPG’s vast scale and breadth of complementary agency services, represents the next wave of innovation in our industry — the bringing together of the art and the science of marketing.”
Self also said consumers expect consistent, relevant and personalized experiences across all channels — including brick-and-mortar stores and online — which can be done by combining marketing and advertising at the data level.
“Acxiom’s Open Garden approach makes that possible, as does our commitment to working with players across the ecosystem, including data partners, agencies, publishers, platforms and technology providers,” Self said. “When the data layer is unified, a brand’s marketing and advertising is optimized to deliver exceptional customer experiences throughout the customer journey.”
